Our History
Almost thirty years ago, Mark Mordini and Jane Solmor were straight out of law school when they met as associates at the same law firm — a firm notorious for its willingness to demand proof, resist the urge to indulge in a nuisance settlement, preserve assets, and pursue the right to trial. Those early years were like boot camp, working with, and learning from, fiercely dedicated litigators. Jane and Mark learned quickly and rose to the expectation to try cases that demanded skepticism.
Eager to hang a private practice “shingle,” the Mordini firm was established in 1996. The hard work, litigation skill, and winning results continue to this day. Experience breeds wisdom, and we are proud to lend both to any legal challenge that comes our way.

The Mordini firm has tried literally hundreds of cases to verdict in every venue in northern Illinois. Every member of the firm is expected to regularly try cases so that even the youngest associates have extensive courtroom experience. Although the firm’s client base has broadened and its practice areas have expanded, Mordini remains a tight and personable firm with some of the hardest working lawyers in the business.
We are flexible with rates and procedures to match the work desired. We have worked with many online systems, TPAs, and old fashioned paper. We are happy to discuss your needs, what works best for you, and your bottom line — after all, if you do not feel healthy and respected, our relationship cannot be successful.
Defense Philosophy
We are not intimidated by the courtroom. As young lawyers, we were either on trial or getting ready for trial every day. We understand the value of preparation. As the firm matured, we have evolved into a simple but important guiding philosophy: Every case is defended with the assumption that it will go to trial. Because each case is prepared for trial from the beginning, settlement is possible at any time on our client’s terms. If eventual settlement were the only goal, the competitive edge would be lost. Preparation of each case for trial allows the firm to settle cases for a reasonable, competitive, and value devoid of nuisance cost and far below the market average.
